Cosmetics

riolipstickI've never been one to shy away from color. Especially on lips.

With matte, bold lips taking over the season, I felt the need to play around a bit with one of my besties, Jeffre Scott.

If you haven't visited Jeffre, you must. You are seriously missing out. Not only will you find the highest quality brands in skin care and cosmetics, but you will also experience the best customer service.

After swiping several bright colors across my lips, I landed on my most adventurous yet — Rio by Susan Posnick! It's more pink than I've ever done. I have at least 4 shades of ColorEssential lipsticks. They are that good. I gravitate toward berry shades, and this spin on it screams fantastical fun!

How daring do you feel these days? Go ahead, be fierce.

britenzOver the last couple of weeks, I've been testing a fun, new product that whitens teeth on the go. Thank goodness for the 'on the go' factor, as I don't stand still for more than a minute.

Britenz is an all natural brush-on teeth whitener that is easy to use and fits right into your purse. It's safe and effective. I can attest that it absolutely brightens your smile for the short term, in addition to the long term with continual use.

Britenz, containing 100% natural xylitol, organic Aloe Vera, CoQ10 and natural peppermint extract, was developed to whiten your smile in just a few hours. Formulated by dentists, Britenz protects and helps with oral care while delivering fast results. The ingredients are safe, so you don't have to worry about trying not to swallow. And you can see the product working right away, as it fizzes.

It's no surprise that a bright smile brings confidence. Smiling releases endorphins and adjusts your body chemistry. It's proven to lower blood pressure. So why wouldn't you want a phenomenal smile that delivers all of that?

I say, spring is the perfect time to whiten

Who wants to give Britenz a whirl with me? Britenz would love to give away a few whitening pens to those looking for whiter teeth and fresher breath in an easy application. Simply leave a comment below and you'll be entered to win Britenz Brush-On Teeth Whitener. Enter now!

Here comes another must have for spring.

Chantecaille is known for creating the most spectacularly beautiful palettes. And this one is no exception.

Inspired by the freshness of the ocean, this limited edition palette combines the bold and the feminine. Showcasing three fabulous eye shades — Great White (all over white sandy beige), Grey Reef (glistening sandy grey) and Black Tip (deep ocean blue) — and one golden coral cheek shade, this will fast become your 'go to' look. Best yet, 5% of the proceeds from the Save the Sharks Palette will be donated to the BLOOM Association to ban unregulated shark fin trade.

While snow is predicted this evening (and I seriously want it to happen), my forecasts for spring 2013 unveil, bit by bit. Starting with lips!

Bold lips will continue to take center stage this upcoming season. Which means, there will be plenty of room for experimentation. Fashion designers Giles and Holly Fulton showed matte fuchsia lips on the runway. Fulton even added orange for a punchy pout.

While spring doesn't typically conjure up visions of oxblood, designers Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu were digging the deep, mysterious lip for the season.

As for gloss — move over! It's all about the matte mouth.

neutralholidaylipsLast Saturday night was the big holiday black tie event we look forward to every year. It's quite the evening of extravagance. And for the first time, I decided to have my hair and makeup done by a professional.

You'd think I'd partake in these services for all of my events. However, I actually love doing my own hair and makeup. Well, makeup anyway.

This year, Charlton Alicea, of Jeffre Scott and Varji & Varji, completed my look with a bronzy smoky eye, fabulous neutral lip and soft flowing curls. Pause — if you know me, you know I never wear a neutral lip. Ever. In fact, you will find me in some shade of berry at all times. But I have to tell you, this combination of neutral was the most perfect neutral for me. Especially with my sultry eyes!

Charlton started with *Susan Posnick's Marrakesh lipstick and then topped them off with *Rilastil's Sparkling Bronze lip gloss. Two simple products. One phenomenal combination.

As for the hair, those soft curls were amazing. And I learned something while sitting in the chair. Charlton taught me how to get the biggest and best curls ever with a curling iron. I must feature it soon, as it's definitely worth passing on. I also learned that it takes a whole lot of hair spray to keep those soft flowing curls at attention until 3am.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the three stunning ladies I had the pleasure of hanging with at Jeffre Scott's while we all got made up for the same event. I love the fact that our makeup perfectly complemented each of our personalities and attire. Best of all, the four of us had a blast together, after only meeting that night! And our makeup was flawless well into the wee hours.

*Available at Jeffre Scott in Charlotte and Turner & Scott in Asheville.
