Hanes: Smooth Illusions Mid-Thigh Smoother in moderate control Incredibly comfortable and feels like silk. I wore this smoother for ten hours under a dress, through two tango parties and heavy French pastries, with no discomfort or roll down. I tested a medium, though a small was recommended for my height. Perhaps with a smaller size, it yields firmer control. I thought it did a good job of smoothing things out but isn’t a miracle worker. My measuring tape showed an inch lost around my waist. But every inch counts!
MIRABELLA: Perfecting Lip Definer Mirabella's Lip Definer looks white but goes on clear. It's job is to create a protective barrier at the lip line to ensure no feathering or bleeding of your lip color throughout the day. I tested this with multiple colors in Mirabella's Lip Lustre line as well as a number of other lipsticks and pencils in my make-up bag. The definer definitely kept the lipstick where it supposed to be, on your lips and not around them. Regardless of the shade, from the darkest to the most nude, they stayed put all day. The product is moisturizing as it contains shea butter, and goes on smooth. The one drawback is that the definer is a bit waxy upon application. So, it delivers, but could feel better going on. The product sharpens well, so you can get that lip line super exact.
MIRABELLA: Lip Lustre Liner in Charming
This pinky coral liner is bright and beautiful as we transition from spring into summer. When you want a color with a little pop, but not so much that you look made up, this is the one. Goes on smooth, allows you to both line and fill in the lip, depending on how much you want to turn up the color, and lasts a long time. Two applications for all day and all night. The Charming hue is especially complimentary for those of us who are fair skinned. With an aloe vera base, it is moisturizing as well as easy to apply. Free of lead and parabens too. Use it as a liner to make your color last all day, and fill it in for a sheer smack of luscious color on your lips.
MIRABELLA: Lip Definer in Nude
Did you ever find the perfect bit of lip coverage, just the right tint of color to look completely natural, yet refined? For me, it is Mirabella's Lip Definer in Nude. Love love love this color. Goes on creamy and smooth and lasts + lasts. A combination of Carnauba and Beeswax guarantees a glide on application and the color, subtle as it is, adheres. Mirabella scores a home run with this one!
become: Age Resistant Line Corrector
Touted as the no tox Botox, Age Resistant Line Corrector ingredients are said to "swell like cooked grains of rice to fill, smooth and treat those smile lines." I did see a change in the fine lines and wrinkles upon continued use, but how do you compare a topical product to Botox, as Botox works within the muscle. That being said, this corrector does a nice job with hydration, smoothing fine lines, and making the delicate eye area skin more supple. Containing an impressive array of ingredients including Hyaluronic Bio-Filling Spheres (wrinkle filling), Argireline® (reduce expression lines), Matrixyl 3000® - Strong ‘Pro-collagen’ + ‘Proelastin’ peptide extract (smooths and firms), and Kigelia Africana Extract (hydrating and firming), the product is creamy, absorbs quickly and smells good. The glam red tube with an applicator tip is attractive and functional.
L’eggs: Profiles Waist Smoother Mid-Thigh firm control
I barely lasted through dinner one evening with this smoother. So, I tried a second time. However, I ended up taking them off after several minutes, gasping. These manage to feel incredibly restricting, leave a giant unsightly line down your middle after you take them off (so I hope you’re alone when you do), and still don’t reduce your waist by more than an inch. Agonizing! They run small. The package recommended I wear a small but the medium felt as tight as a sausage casing, though it was too long to wear with a skirt. However, they don't roll down, and for ladies of average height, the length might not be a problem.
TOMMYGUNS: Clever Curls & Waves Texture Spray
Curly haired people take notice! TOMMYGUNS has created a styling spray that is lightweight, yet packs a punch. I do not have ringlets (though sometimes I wish I did), nor is mine a super tight curl, but somewhere in between. I am forever looking for everyday hair care products that help me to accentuate the hair I was born with versus trying to change it into something else. Don't get me wrong, I love to glam it up with an updo or straightening from time to time. However, for the most part I want simple but good. Where would I be without my TOMMYGUNS? Introduced to this line by Catherine of [my] style files, I fell in love with the first product (Styling Creme) and on my last visit to NY, went on a quest to replenish my supply. Lucky for me, I scored this Curls and Waves Texture Spray. Made with seaweed extract, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, you spritz it on and work it through with your fingertips. Your curls are bouncy, defined and flirty. Couldn't be simpler!
TOMMYGUNS: Fig and Plum Shampoo
OK, it's official. I cannot be trusted to be impartial where TOMMYGUNS products are concerned. I am in love with this line! Every product I have tested seems as if it is formulated just for me. Fig and Plum shampoo is no exception. Again, this was a score upon a recent visit to the NY salon to get my fix. One look at my curly locks, and proprietor Russell suggested this shampoo. It has a humidity barrier, which all of us long for on those rainy or muggy days, and it's an outright necessity for those of us with curls. Straight haired souls, don't despair, I have used this when I straightened my hair as well, and it came out shiny, sleek and even then, fought off the slow upward kink that comes with humidity. The best way to describe the shampoo is calming. It smells dreamy and comes in this deep purple brown hue. It feels rich in your palm and lathers magnificently. The one thing I would ask from TOMMYGUNS is improvement on the ability to get their products in the US. Challenging to get online and impossible to get in person anywhere outside of NYC, we need to be able to get our hands on these marvelous products more easily. Please help! I'm a TOMMYGUNS junkie and I'll soon need another fix!
