My favorite thing to do is make homemade baileys and celebrate the season with
family and friends!

My favorite holiday tradition is the gift card game my dad came up with. All 6
of his children (and spouses) get a number and then we start opening and each
box has a gift card from a different retailer (Williams-Sonoma, Home Depot,
Macys, etc..) and then you can either steal the card from someone else or open
new box. Play til all are open- and sometimes there is cash! Such a fun way to
end the night!

We are no longer celebrating my favorite tradition since my husband's 85 year
old Italian grandmother is no longer up to making 550 handmade raviolis from
scratch. :( Time for a new tradition!

One of my favorite Holiday traditions is something I do for my daughter each
year. I set up a mini modern silver christmas tree just for her and wrap 25
little gifts that I hang on the tree. Each is filled with a different candy or
treat. I number each one and each day she gets to open one and enjoy the treat
as a count down to Christmas!! Our own version of the advent calendar! It is
what she looks forward to most!

Every Christmas my grandmother gave each of her 29 grandchildren a pair of
pajamas and a pair of mittens she knitted till the age of 89
Michelle Fleer   |2010-11-18 08:13:45
My favorite tradition is opening up just one present, then watching How The
Grinch Stole Christmas and then reading Twas the Night before Christmas on
Christmas Eve with the whole family, even our dog.
Howell   |2010-11-18 01:12:33
My favorite tradition is the annual holiday party of old friends and their
families.
Eugenie   |2010-11-17 07:31:45
My favorite holiday tradition is opening the presents after a delicious meal on
Christmas Eve.
@parmie     |2010-11-17 05:43:46
My favorite Christmas holiday tradition has to be when my family puts on our
'fat pants'/comfy clothes after dinner and watches movies together.
Marcy Moreno     |2010-11-20 09:17:54
My favorite family tradition is when the entire family gets together after our
Christmas dinner, puts on the music, and has a dance party! It's hilarious b/c
even Grandma lets loose.

living in a household filled with different cultural traditions, we start with
toutiere (meat) pie as part of my Franco American heritage. We then combine it
with tamales, rice, beans and tortillas to celebrate hubby's Central American
heritage. We've started celebrating with friends from Brazil as well... and
they bring their own ethnic foods to the mix. It's a great 2 day feast of food,
good times, great company, exchanging gifts and celebrating another great year
and being grateful for what we have.

Our family tradition comes early - Thanksgiving; and is quite simple. We are
thankful for being together every year. Thanksgiving weekend when I was 18 y/o
was the weekend my father came home from being in the hospital for 10 days and
away in Texas after his open heart surgery. Every year we are thankful - and
remember the quiet times walking together (that was the majority of his rehab).

My favorite holiday tradition so far is choosing a special ornament every year.
My husband & I always get one for us, and now that we have a baby we get to
start getting her one every year as well! :)
jennifer b   |2010-11-14 11:04:34
My favorite tradition is eating my Grandma's yummy food and watching A Christmas
story over and over
Rita R   |2010-11-14 10:01:35
As our family grows, it takes longer to do the presents because the youngest
opens their presents first so they they can acknowledge who gave them each
present. Instead of ripping open the presents and not knowing who gave them.

family is the best....the elves started coming to our house and its so much fun
just watching the kids look for them each morning...
Tracey Byram   |2010-11-14 07:27:03
My favorite tradition is opening new pajamas on Christmas Eve.
shel   |2010-11-14 01:40:14
Every year our family plays the "Mrs Right" game on Christmas morning.
We all try to outdo each other with outrageous gag gifts and there's the world's
ugliest stuffed dog that is regifted every year for our game.
kathy jackson   |2010-11-13 10:27:24
My hubby and I go Black Friday shopping every year, ya it's cold and crowded but
we have a great time grabbing the deals.
susan   |2010-11-13 10:23:03
My favorite tradition is family dinner. It is so nice to see everyone and it
really makes it feel like the holidays!

Joy To The World...Silver Bells...We Wish You A Merry Christmas...We Christmas
carol. Can you tell? I come from a very musical family and caroling with friends
has been a long time tradition for us. We Wish You A Merry Christmas, And A
Happy New Year!!!
Val Pearson  - The Tree   |2010-11-13 03:26:48
My favorite holiday tradition is putting up the tree and everything Christmas.
We always struggle over the stand which eventually leads to the tree falling
over. We always end up erupting in giggles. It seems like it's chaos trying to
get everything set up but the feeling when all is accomplished is amazing! We
always get in the Christmas spirit with a new added memory.

Making holiday foods and gifts, sharing with friends and family.
Ericka   |2010-11-11 06:12:13
My favorite holiday tradition that we still do is getting together with my best
friend (since preschool) on New Year's Eve to make stuffed mushrooms and salad -
we do this even if we have other plans that evening. It's always fit in
because it is tradition. Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to starting new
traditions with my husband - this will be our first holiday season as husband
and wife! =)
Simone     |2010-11-11 01:41:29
My favorite tradition giving a pre-present to my family members of pajamas and
us opening our presents in them on Christmas Day.
Lisa   |2010-11-09 05:29:13
My favorite part is putting the single candles in the windows. The glow of the
candles is so inviting and calming at the same time. Conveys a sense of peace
during a time when all the holiday shopping, traffic, and prepping can make you
stressed.

Oh boy, tough questions. I also love the stockings! My family has always gotten
up, all set down in the family room and open all our stocking goodies, from
there we would head into the living room to open the gifts under the tree. After
gifts are opened we sit down and eat our breakfast which consists of
sfogliatelle, an amazing Italian pastry that I love. We all sit at the table
with some gifts and we all chat about them/test them out, play. It is a truly
peaceful moment, filled only with joy and happiness. It is beautiful and I LOVE
it! The moments at the table are in many ways just as good, if not better, than
the actual gift opening.

My favorite tradition has to be spending Christmas Eve with my girls (now 19 and
14). Hot chocolate and baking cookies for Santa is how we spend our last night
of holiday anticipation. :)
Abby   |2010-11-08 06:23:28
My favorite family tradition is filling the stockings. It has always been my
favorite part of Christmas. My mom still does it for all me and all my siblings
and now I get to do it for my little ones.
Chandra  - Chandra     |2010-11-08 04:52:45
My favorite tradition is lighting the house on December 1st. The day after
Thanksgiving, my dad & older brother string Christmas lights on the outside
while my mom & I decorate the inside. We all go outside on December 1st to watch
the official lighting, eat cookies & drink hot chocolate. We can then enjoy the
holiday decorations for an entire month!
Sharon   |2010-11-08 04:45:02
Filling and hanging the stockings are my favorite holiday tradition. The
contents have changed through the years, and now that my children are grown,
having them all here with me for Christmas is the best of all.
ShootingStarsMag     |2010-11-08 12:21:16
i love that we open gifts on christms eve as a family. i find it much more fun
and exciting than being all sleepy in the morning.
Jennifer Lancaster   |2010-11-07 08:23:48
My favorite tradition was opening Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve. My mother
gave us pajamas every year until she passed away when I was 34. I give each of
my 3 boys Christmas Eve jammies and take comfort in continuing my mom's
tradition. It makes me feel closer to her.
katie frentz   |2010-11-07 07:57:43
being with my family is the best tradition i have, but specifically my favorite
tradition (i'll be starting this for my kids this year) are the elves that are
naughty through out the month of december. seeing your kids get up in the
morning and watching their excitement when they are looking for their elves is
so fun. i can't wait to carry this tradition on!
