What To Wear

February has arrived! As I prepare my clients for resort season, I wanted to share this fabulous look with you, perfect for the occasion.

This light and airy multi-color tropical print silk georgette dress by Johnny Was Collection sums up what escaping in the middle of winter is all about. I love the scoop neckline and bias-cut silhouette. I am especially excited by the use of the vivid palette set for SS12. Paired with the simplest of accessories — gold hoop earrings and gold/pink sandals — you will look and feel beautiful.

If that day hasn't come already, it will. Cold, wet miserable weather. What to wear?

First, start with warm base layers. I love lululemon's luon long sleeve workout tops. They are super warm, stylish and functional. I practically live in them ... especially the reversible ones. And you can layer two for extra warmth. Cotton leggings are always easy. However, the updated jean legging from J Brand is fun with lots of colors to choose from, and they are coated, so while you may see raindrops, you won't feel them (at least, not immediately). Throw on a sweater that makes you smile (love this distressed star sweater) and a luxe scarf. Now for the weatherproof necessities— a hooded raincoat (with hand covers), riding-inspired rain boots and a patent leather duffel handbag (in deep green — delicious). Bring in bold color with stud earrings (best with this outfit, as they won't catch).

Go ahead and do your rain dance. You are ready!

There's a chill in the air. Time to bundle up! I bet you've spent a lot of time outside in the cold this week, running around returning/exchanging gifts from the holidays. So, what are you wearing?

There are too many opportunities to be cute, while accomplishing your goal of being casual, comfortable and cozy, so no athletic wear allowed. Start with a pair of colorful jeans or cords, like this yellow pair from Vince. Then take a bold sweater and layer a white blouse underneath it. Add a colorful and patterned scarf, a colorful puffer coat and some kickin' turquoise suede high-tops. Keep the accessories neutral and you are set!

If this doesn't bring more cheer your way, I don't know what will.

vibrantcarolinaherreraThe discussion over the appropriate attire for a black tie event will never cease. And when you factor in the holidays, discrepancies are aplenty.

My opinion will never change. Floor length. Period.

Let's do the math. Add up the amount of formal events you attend in a given year. More than 5, less than 5? Maybe just 1? Out of 365 days, the opportunity to go all out is few and far between. Besides, the holidays are special. It is an honor to wear something spectacular, something red carpet worthy. It says, 'I not only value and respect the hosts of the event, I value and respect myself.'

Cost aside, because in all honesty, you can find something beautiful just about anywhere, consignment boutiques included. The key is knowing what to look for. Quite simply, elegance.

So when the invitation arrives for that black tie holiday soirée, save the cocktail dress for the cocktail party. Go for magnificence!

headingtoeventThere is no doubt, we are in holiday event mode. There is a party around every corner. What will you wear? More importantly, how will you wear it?

Whatever you choose to dress your body up in, remember that a little forethought and passion go a long way. You can always tell when a man or a woman has spent time pondering the options for an evening's event. The finer details get noticed. They can't help but get noticed!

As you prepare for the next month and a half of soirées, your ensembles deserve to be created in love and excitement ... now (not later).
