diveintofallNo more excuses. It's fall. Time to dive right in.

I realize it's been a bit hot lately. However, it appears that many folks are confusing fall with the first day of spring. I lost count of the outfit mishaps this morning at church.

As gorgeous as these past few days have been, there's absolutely no reason not to embrace the fall season. Start by selecting a darker color palette (but stay away from heavy fabrics).

You can easily pair a sleeveless top with pants or a skirt. Or, go for that seasonless black, gray or camel dress. Don't be shy about sporting tights. As long as they aren't thick opaque, you should be fine in warmer temperatures. And guess what? Boots are perfect now! Booties, wedges, tall boots, OTK boots — all of them. Don't hold back.

Fall. It's time to dress the part.

Thanks for yet another great post. There is a lot to say on this topic, to be
sure! No lineny, wafty fabrics. No espadrilles. No fabric totes (although there
are probably exceptions to this last one, like maybe dark fabric totes). And not
white-based prints! I must be missing some other summery things but that's all I
can remember now. (Oh, and as a PS, I am writing from Washington, DC, where it
is also warm. But I feel like, if we dress for it, the season will come! :-)

Dark colors, it's that easy. You can keep cool, I promise. Just no spring
dresses :)

But Catherine--it's going to be 89 degrees tomorrow! What's a girl to do in the
Carolinas?
