formalholiday10Holiday parties are fabulous and festive! Yet, so many women panic when they receive an invitation to one that's formal. Of course you need to amp up your style. However, relax and breathe — and enjoy the process.

These days, there seem to be many variations on what is acceptable formal attire. Too many variations, in my book. Call me old school, but I definitely prefer floor length evening wear for black tie events. How often do you get to dress to the nines anyway? Might as well pull out all the stops!

This Halston stud-embellished silk satin gown is a show stopper. Mix in fabulous jewels (emerald/diamond necklace, drop diamond earrings, black/white geometric bracelet, and blue crystal/diamond ring), and you are on fire! Of course, the handbag and shoes need to be perfect. In this case, I'd blend in with the shoes (silver tone sandals) and stand out with a beautiful blue clutch. I love this ensemble with a cropped black mongolian lamb poncho.

Drop dead gorgeous!
