What To Wear

pradass11The Steeplechase is coming up.

While I'm not going this year, my sister is. And I have the perfect outfit for her.

Like this beautiful striped dress in my favorite color combo. And a feminine hat, of course. Walking on grass, gravel, dirt, and potentially mud, shoes are ever important. A chic flat sandal or low wedge is your best bet.

The key is keeping it simple, but fabulous. As in this Prada dress, which speaks for itself.

multicolordressThis is not an April Fool's joke. This kind of color is absolutely allowed and absolutely delicious!

I love mixing colors. And when you go bold, it's easy. Keeping the tone the same, you can bring in more color than you think. While the rule of three is a good one, there are opportunities to bring in more, thoughtfully.

You'll notice, I added two shades of blue to the mix — in the jewelry. Easily done. It doesn't matter that blue doesn't exist in the graphic floral dress. In fact, it's better that it doesn't. A pleasant, unexpected detail. Just like the hot pink in the bracelet and handbag.

So where are you going in this outfit? How about a luncheon, date night or girls night out. Truly, the occasions for this outfit concept are endless!

As my week comes to an end, full of complete and crazy goodness, I prepare for a photo shoot that I am really excited about. While I can't tell you much, I can tell you the vision is big. Bold. And a little kooky.

I live for beautiful pictures. Images that transport me to another place and time. I especially enjoy translating visuals into real world situations. This image of LeeLee Sobieski says, "Oh, come on. You know you want to look." It oozes sultriness. But it has the reality factor. What does that mean for you? For me, it's colorful velvet. Ooops, just dropped a clue!

pastelintospringAs I walked through the city today from meeting to meeting, I realized I was the only one wearing bold, vivid color. Why? It's already summer in Charlotte!

I thought it might be helpful to show a tamer way to get that spring in your step. Pastels!

From this DvF tweed dress to the Reed Krakoff yellow handbag to the Charlotte Olympia palm leaf sandals, go yummalicious from head to toe! Throw in a chalcedony necklace, tribal-inspired earrings, a wide gold cuff and leather strap watch to top it all off.

No more excuses. Embrace color whether you tread lightly or with guns a blazin'!

dknyredlaqueredshearlingWhat I want to wear right now.

This beyond fabulous lacquered shearling jacket by DKNY will, no doubt, get you noticed. And it will keep you warm in style. Shearling in bright red! Who knew?

Not only is this statement maker perfect for our current season, it will turn mainstream this fall 2012. And to be honest, it's unique enough to never go out of style.
